"Professional Style" Speed Dating

 **Due to the Regional Stake Conference Broadcast with all 88 stakes in SoCal having stake conference on Jan 16-17, the speed dating activity has been moved to Saturday, January 30. (same time, same location)**

With many having new year's resolutions to date more and meet more people, what better way than to join us for our January's Huntington Beach LDS 40s Singles (mid30s-50)  "Professional Style" Speed Dating activity at the Ayres Hotel & Suites in Costa Mesa. http://ayreshotels.com.

Unlike some poorly planned speed dating activities you may have experienced at the some church dance or singles conference, we will have a "professional style" speed dating activity with a short pre-event questionnaire to increase the chance of compatibility with fellow speed daters, along with ample space between couples in a lounge type setting so it's not "scream dating" where people try to out talk each other in order to be heard. Rounds will be 5 minutes per couple so people really have more time to get to know the other person.

**When you register, the pre-event questionaire is NOT meant to be like E-harmony where you will be perfectly placed with like minded people, but people will be generally grouped with similar backgrounds and viewpoints. These questions can also be talking points to use during the speed dating round, or after the speed dating round during the hour-long mixer, so you have the opportunity to chat about it later or not. It's up to you. :)**

We will have a banquet room reserved with a balcony overlooking the pool courtyard with cool uplights, loungy atmosphere and music, and catered hors d'oeuvres .

(BYU dating interview questions will be off limits!) That means everyone will already assume that they know the other person's hometown, what degree, what career, where are they from, etc, etc that eat up time in the speed dating round that often reveals nothing about the real person. A list of fun get-to-know-you questions will be available at the table too that you can pick and answer during the speed dating round.

To ensure even M/F ratios this will be a registered, pre-paid event for the first 37 Men and 37 Women. This will sell out before January 30. (There will be no registration at the door. Everyone must pre-register!)

(If you can't register online, let me know ASAP and we'll find another method of payment. However no refunds can be issued if you don't register online. A few people have experienced technical problems when trying to register using either PayPal or Eventbrite. This is usually a server issue on their end. But after a few minutes, it clears up. So try again at another time, or if you continue to have difficulties, please contact me ASAP so we can get you registered.)

The preferred age range for this speed dating event will be for women 35-47 and men 37-50.

***Guys, I can attest that it's worth your time to come to the speed dating event. We are getting people cool, cute, "with it" ladies from all over SoCal in attendance --many that you may have never met before at some church dance or function.

Over half the women registered are in their 30s, with the rest in their early to mid 40s. If you register now, you will be placed with women that are more compatible with you, typically by age. If you wait until the last minute, you will have to be placed randomly. So it's in your best interest to register today! ***

(For those over this age range, no worries...the HB 50s Group will sponsor a similar speed dating activity for the late40s/50s crowd sometime later in May 2010)

After meeting 12 people in the speed dating round, you will be able to provide contact info to people you are interested in getting to know better, and after the event you will receive an email of any matches (where both parties marked yes during the speed dating round).

 After speed dating, we will have a post-event mixer so everyone can mingle with the whole group even if you weren't able to speed date with them as well.

Since this is a "professional style" speed dating event, we ask everyone to dress in your sexy (yet modest) "dress to impress" attire. (So not Sunday Church Best, but cool mocktail attire. See the diff?) So guys, no white shirt and tie...:)

Typically such speed dating events at some restaurant or club cost between $35-50 per person, however this event will be done at cost for only $20.
